The pro-freedom leaders today held a peaceful protest demonstration at Nowhata Chowk against that vague and unclear policy of state government regarding the Sainik and Pandit colonies and in favour of the release of political prisoners before the Eid in which hundreds of people participated. The protest demonstration was led by JKLF leader Mohammad Yasin Malik and besides him Raja Mehraj-ud-din and Ghulam Nabi Zaki also addressed the gathering and cautioned government against the separate townships for Pandits and the Sainik colonies. The other pro-freedom leaders who also participated in the protest program include Altaf Ahmad Shah, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Farooq Ahmad Sofi, Bilal Siddiqi, Mohammad Shafi Lone, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Yasmeen Raja, Farooq Ahmad Sodagar, Mushtaq Ahmad, Sayed Imtiyaz Hayder, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Mohammad Zameer, Mohammad Yasin Bhat, Mohammad Zaman Khan, Ishfaq Ahmad Khan, Umar Adil Dar, Rameez Raja and Mohammad Saleem Zargar. The pro-freedom leaders criticized the statement of Mehbooba Mufti according to which she is ashamed of being a Muslim.

The Hurriyat leaders said that the same Mehbooba Mufti used to visit the families of the Mujahideens on their martyrdom and would shed crocodile tears there and express her sympathy with the families. But it was all a hoax and fraud by which she exploited the freedom sentiments of the people and attained the chair. Now when she is in power, she had forgotten all her statements which she used to deliver while in opposition. Leaders said that the Mehbooba Mufti has become an official spokesperson of Sangh Parivar in Jammu & Kashmir and she is helping them in every possible ways in the implementation of their communal agendas in Kashmir. While strongly criticizing the ambiguous policy of government regarding the Sainik and Pandit colonies, the pro-freedom leaders said that we will be forced to launch a mass agitation is the government continue to pursue its anti-people agendas here. Hurriyat leaders on the occasion demanded release of all the political prisoners including the common youths before the Eid. (KNS)
