Making a pitch for the all round development of the state, the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that all the major cities and towns of the state would be connected with 4-6 lane roads by the year 2017. He further said the SAD-BJP government is laying extensive road network in the state, a pre-requisite for development, which makes Punjab the 2nd state in the entire country to have a road network on such a broad scale.Addressing the people here during the sangat darshan programme, the Deputy Chief Minister said special attention has been paid to develop the road infrastructure around Moga which would soon get further impetus with the already commenced construction of Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar-Moga-Barnala road thus proving a vital link in connecting Doaba and Malwa regions of the state. He also said that the project would cost Rs. 1500 crore to the state exchequer.

S. Badal elaborated further that the SAD-BJP government has been the harbinger of massive development and prosperity in the state during previous 9 years which is amply clear from the state achieving power surplus status. Divulging more, he said that the production of power has been doubled in the state with the investment of Rs. 23520 crore besides spending Rs. 4000 crore on the development and face-lifting of cities and towns which would ensure them getting sewerage and clean drinking water facilities thus giving a boost to the infrastructure.

Stating the initiatives of the state government for farming sector, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the process to disburse new tube well connections has commenced and soon enough, the needy farmers would have power run motors installed in their fields.Making another important disclosing, he said the free health insurance scheme has been running successfully in the state with 23000 people have availed the benefits and got free treatment up to Rs. 50000 in the various hospitals of the state within a span of just 1 month.S. Badal exuded confidence that riding on the plank of development, the SAD-BJP coalition would score a hat trick in Punjab at 2017 assembly polls post which he has set a target to give cemented shape to the streets and drains of all the villages in the state. He said that inspite of the long list of achievements under the belt of SAD-BJP government, the political rivals are deliberately playing a devious game to defame Punjab. Going further, he elaborated that firstly, the Sikh community was branded as terrorist while now the Punjabi community is being painted as drug addict under a deep rooted conspiracy.Throwing light on recruitment process, he informed that drive to fill 7000 vacancies of constables in the police department has begun with the receipt of 5.5 lakh applications. He also said that dope test would be conducted on all the eligible candidates and the result would be a befitting reply to the anti-Punjab and anti-development forces.

Interacting with media-persons on the occasion, S. Badal said that during the congress regime, Punjab didn’t see even a single development oriented project coming to fruition whereas the achievements of the SAD-BJP government amounting to previous 9 years are unmatched. He said that during his tenure as Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh was always inaccessible whereas the entire SAD-BJP government including Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal, conducts sangat darshans and resolves the problems of the people by going to their doorstep thus proving true to the slogan of ‘Raj Nahi Sewa’. Branding Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a bunch of opportunists, S.
