Three persons were injured, two of them seriously, in action by government forces against stone-pelting youth after Friday prayers in Nowhatta and Sheerbagh in Srinagar and Anantnag districts respectively.The clashes erupted between youths and government forces in many parts of the Kashmir Valley after Friday prayers.According to GNS, scores of youths took to streets at Nowhatta, Kupwara Town, Sopore and Anantnag Town and staged pro-freedom and anti-India protests. At Nowhatta, youths held absentia funeral for seven militants killed in Kupwara.At Khawaja Bazar in Nowhatta, two youths received grave pellet injuries in forces action, official sources told GNS.One of the injured, Amir Rather son of Mohammad Ashraf of Humhama, received pellets in his face and chest while as another one, Adnan Ahmad son of Ghulam Nabi of Baspora received pellets in his left eye and ear. Both the injured have been hospitalized, they said.

Reports said that massive clashes erupted between youths and forces erupted in Sopore, Anantnag and Kupwara during which police used teargas and pepper gas canisters against stone-throwers. Several protesters were reported to be injured.In the meanwhile, panic gripped Sopore Main Chowk when gunshots were heard during clashes between youths and police. The gunshots resulted in escalation of already tense situation after which additional reinforcement of forces was summoned. Meanwhile, a youth, Umer Mir son of Abdul Majed of Achbal Ada Anagtnag injured at Sheerbagh in the south Kashmir district, officials said. He suffered injuries after a shell hit him but his condition is stated to be stable, they added. (GNS)
