Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, today said there is sanctioned strength of 5988 doctors and 12086 paramedics in hospitals of the State. She was replying to a question of S. Charanjit Singh.Giving breakup of figures, the Minister said there is sanctioned strength of 4312 doctors in Health Services, out of which 3306 are in position and 1006 posts are vacant, similarly 9365 is sanctioned strength of paramedics, out of which 7989 are in position and 1376 posts are vacant.She said in Medical Education sector there is sanctioned strength of 1676 doctors, out of which 967 are in position and 709 are vacant. 

Similarly, there is sanctioned strength of 2721 paramedics, out of which 1822 are in position and 899 are vacant.The Minister further said that 226 posts of Consultants in different disciplines were referred to J&K Public Service Commission, out of which 189 selections have been received and 37 are still pending with the PSC.    She said that 83 posts of lecturers in various disciplines of GMC Srinagar and 33 posts of lecturers in various disciplines of GMC Jammu have already been referred to the PSCMs Asiea Naqash said 97 posts of Medical Officers have already been referred to the PSC and 475 posts of paramedics lying vacant under direct quota have been referred to the Service Selection Board.The Minister said to improve services in hospitals across the State, life saving equipments, additional manpower and new building infrastructure is being provided to the hospitals in a phased manner.Mohammad Muzaffar Parray raised supplementary to the main question.
