In order to provide better healthcare facilities and to upgrade the existing healthcare related infrastructure in Kargil, Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today chaired a meeting of officers to review the functioning of the department and the steps to be taken for the construction of 200-bedded new District Hospital at Kargil.Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat was also present in the meeting.The meeting was informed that in order to provide better healthcare facilities and to up-grade the existing infrastructure, a proposal of Rs. 45.17 crore for construction of 200-bedded hospital at Kurbathang, Kargil stands submitted under Special Task Force for which Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has released Rs 5 crore.
Addressing the meeting, the Chairman said that the district remains cut-off from the entire country during winter and the existing building of district hospital is insufficient to accommodate the growing number of patients. He said that there is no scope of its further expansion.Haji Anayat asked the Health Minister for making arrangement of adequate funds so that the work on building of New District hospital is started and completed at the earliest.
Mr. Bali Bhagat assured that the Government would arrange adequate funds for speedy construction of new district hospital project, adding that the work on the project would be taken up in phased manner. He also assured of all possible help for streamlining the functioning of all health institutions of the district and their grievances would be addressed on priority.The meeting also discussed threadbare various issues relating to health sector of Kargil District. The functioning of District hospital, Kargil, trauma hospital, SDH Drass, community health centres at Sankoo, Zanaskar and Chitkan, besides requirement of necessary manpower and equipments for PHC Taisuru and Shargole also reviewed.Director, Health Services, Kashmir Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, CMO, Kargil, Dr.Jaffar Akhoon, Superintendent, District Hospital, Kargil Dr. Kacho Sikander Khan, Consultant Medicine, Dr.Vilayat Ali, Consultant Ortho, Dr. Ahmed Ali, Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Haji Ali, Consultant Surgeon Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Dental Surgeon Dr. Shabbir Hussain, ENT Surgeon Dr. Oliyath Ali also attended the meeting.
