Congress Legislature Party leader and MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora today took up with Union Minister for Telecommunication and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad the problem faced by people from rural areas in Ladakh with the main post office at Leh.Jora complained that people from rural areas who come to main post office Leh to withdraw their money on maturity of their saving schemes are made to wait for months after making them make repeated round of the post office.“They are told that postal saving schemes transactions have been brought online; that the Internet does not work most of the time; that they don't have dedicated V SAT of their own; that their staff are not trained for online transactions,” he said.“Giving these excuses the poor people who have deposited their meager savings in post office are made to wait - not for days but for months - to withdraw their own money. Funnily, the objective of digitizations, computerization and e - enabling is to make life easier for the common man, delivery of service more efficient, transparent and accountable,” Jora said. (KNS)
