Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Department, Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, Ms. Asiea Naqash on Monday said that the revival of Srinagar’s central market was under consideration of the government.The Minister chaired a meeting  to discuss the nitty-gritty in this regards at her office chamber in Civil Secretariat here today.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Director Handicrafts, CEO, Economic Reconstruction Agency and Director Tourism, Kashmir.The Minister held threadbare discussion with the officials over the issues pertaining to the revival of the market and its shopkeepers. She directed the concerned to work for the restoration of the market. She said “while revamping the city’s central market, various factors should be kept in mind which should help the government to bring the market on heritage tourism map”. She said that CRPF camp in the market to be relocated to give smooth access to the historical Kashmir Haat. She said that shopkeepers, who would be affected during the revival process of the market, would be rehabilitated in government owned Rambagh Shopping Complex.The Minister directed the authorities of Department of Handicrafts to tie-up with the Director Tourism, Kashmir for the publicity of the events and other functions held inside the Kashmir Haat. She said the initiative to bring the market on heritage tourism map of the State would give a new life to the market.
