Opposition National Conference leader and former chief minister Omar Abdullah Saturday said that chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was misleading the Lower House over the smart cities for Srinagar and Jammu cities. While Mehbooba was speaking about smart cities, she informed the House that the Central government has issued an order for making Srinagar and Jammu smart cities.Mehbooba was replying to the attacks of Omar who had on Friday accused her government of not fulfilling their promise of bringing smart cities for the state. The PDP-BJP Government in their Agenda of Alliance have promised to make Srinagar and Jammu as smart cities.Mehbooba showed an ‘order’ from the central government over smart cities and hurried to send the copy to Omar.

Quickly, after reading the papers, Omar rose up from the Opposition Bench and read the order.“Excuse me. You are misleading the House (about smart cities). The order reads that the competent authorities have approved the inclusion of Srinagar and Jammu to participate in the competition for smart cities,” Omar said while reading the order, and directly referring to Mehbooba.“Please, correct your statement. You are misleading the House,” he said.Mehbooba, left red faced, replied back to Omar: “Let me assure you that both the cities will get smart cities,” the chef minister said. The chief minister also said that she has received the order from the central government that AIIMS will be set up in Awantipora in Kashmir and Samba in Jammu. (KNS)
