Div Com reviews health care facilities for lepers

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon today convened a meeting of Health Department to review health care and other amenities being provided to the leper colony Lal Bazaar Srinagar.Officers of the Health Department, Social Welfare Department, Medical Officer Leper Hospital, Srinagar Municipality, President Kashmir Editors Association and concerned officers were present in the meeting.The Divisional Commissioner received detailed information of facilities being provided to Leper patients from Medical Officer, Leprosy Hospital and other concerned departments.Reviewing the residential facilities of leper families, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that 66 structures have been taken up for construction out of which 48 quarters have been completed and handed over to the leper families and the work on remaining quarters is in full swing and will be completed soon.During the meeting President Kashmir Editors Association, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Kaloo gave suggestions to review the leper fund society so that leper patients could be financially supported.The Divisional Commissioner directed concerned officers to provide medicare and other facilities to the patients besides ensuring proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the colony.The Divisional Commissioner convened another meeting to review problems being faced by the Tibetian colony at Srinagar and Achan landfill site of SMC.The meeting was informed that the Tibetian colony will be completed soon and handed over to the concerned. It was also discussed that extra land of 200 meters surrounding the present land will be occupied for SMC dumping site at Achan.The meeting was attended by the Commissioner SMC, Director Land Management SDA, ADC Srinagar and other concerned officers.
