Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal today directed the concerned departments to take pre-emptive measures to prevent encroachment of   land reclaimed in Thanger and Gangyal Nallahs. He was speaking at the maiden meeting of Divisional Level Committee (DLC) constituted by the Government for fast tracking the ERA projects.Kotwal said the reclaimed should be fenced to prevent encroachment adding that the Chief Minister has issued clear directions that no encroachments or any unauthorized structure be allowed to come up.Div Com further informed that all the remaining encroachments along the streams will be demolished by the team headed by ACR, Jammu under the supervision of Commissioner, JMC and Dy. Commissioner, Jammu.The meeting also approved release of compensation in favor of 42 persons, whose structures have been dismantled during the construction of Thanger and Gangyal Nallahs. It was informed that the compensation shall be paid to them on the basis of assessment made by PWD (R&B) Department, Jammu.The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer, J&K ERA, Vice Chairman JDA, Chief Engineer, J&K ERA and Senior Officers from R&B, JMC, UEED, M&RE and PHE departments.
