Dream of 21st century of Make in India, Digital India and Start up India-Stand up India would be fulfilled only through technology and engineers can play a significant role in making it true.Expressing these views after inaugurating New Academic Block of Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, the Governor of Haryana, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki also laid foundation stone of community Centre, Renovation of Guest House, Garden of Shadows, Extension Block of Kalpna Chawla Hostel and Mango Grooves Garden.Prof. Solanki said today, India has a large proportion of population that is young. The energy of the youth and their enthusiasm must be guided into constructive and productive work. Their ideas and innovations tapped for the betterment of society. Therefore, he said good education facilities and good quality education, from primary to high education levels must receive great attention. For this they need good buildings along with better environment and infrastructure. 

To fulfil all basic needs of the students and the staff the Punjab Engineering College is on the right path and taking all necessary steps to provide better facilities, said the governor.He said that education gives intellectual strength and other skills for earning a livelihood and living with dignity. It should also make you realize that you need to work with others with a spirit of co-operation, tolerance and understanding to build a harmonious world.Congratulating faculty, staff and the young graduates, Prof Solanki said that you have that energy, spark, new thoughts and ideas which helped this 95 year old centre of excellence to become PEC University of Technology which also produced notable Alumni.

Speaking on the occasion Mrs Kirron Kher, Member Parliament said that the academicians, educationists and intellectuals should develop action oriented and progressive programmes to encourage youth to achieve academic brilliance. She said Institutions should continuously learn, improve and upgrade their knowledge to face the emerging challenges of globalization.She assured the management that she will extend all possible help for this university from her MP fund if required.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. Sanjay Tandon, President, BJP Chandigarh, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, Secretary Finance, UT, Chandigarh, Mr. K.K. Jindal, IAS, Secretary Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration, Prof. Manoj Arora, Director, Punjab Engineering College, Captain Karnail Singh, PCS, Joint Secretary, Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration and Prof. Sanjeev Sofat, Deputy Director, Punjab Engineering College.
