Governor Acharya Devvrat presided over the Annual Function of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jakhoo at Shimla today. Speaking on the occasion, he said that education gives us the knowledge to differentiate between good and evil and only educated person could contribute to the development and progress of the society.The Governor said that education was not confined to the knowledge of words but it had a broader sense which helps in overall development of the human beings. It was the responsibility of the teachers to give value based education to the students so that the society could grow in real sense. He added that teachers had most dignified position in the society and it was the responsibility of the teachers to maintain the dignity and such faith.Acharya Devvrat said that parents have full faith on the teachers as they secure the future of their wards. He added that Guru-disciple relationship was most sacred and our rich culture had already interpreted it in various ways. 

He hoped that such traditions would continue in all educational institutions.He said that over the years, there had been degradation in society and we were responsible for these conditions as we are not discharging our duties properly. He added that parents and teachers had the responsibility to teach moral and cultural values to the children to build a strong Nation.Earlier, the Governor also honoured the meritorious students and those who excelled in various activities on the occasion.A colourful cultural programme was also performed by the students of the school.Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jakhoo, Shimla Shri S.K Mishra welcomed the Governor.Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla Prof. A.D.N Bajpai, Principal of Central School Jatog Cant Shri Mohit Gupta, Principal, Central Tibetan School, Shimla Shri V.K Singh, Members of School Management Committee and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
