Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary along with MLA Gagan Bhagat today attended an awareness camp on “Beti Padhao Beti Bachao”.On the occasion, the Minister and MLA felicitated meritorious girl students of RS Pura who secured more than 90% in recently declared class 12 th results.The Minister stressed upon the Education, Health and Social Welfare departments to come together and create awareness among people about the need for educating girl child. He said that all departments should make coordinated efforts to curb and restore the declining female sex ratio, especially in the area where the ratio is already low. “We have to ensure that every girl child is provided opportunities to get education” he added.Sham Lal appreciated the efforts of Social Welfare Department, especially the role of AWW/Helpers’ in spreading the mission. He impressed upon the workers to work with more dedication so that all the schemes made for the welfare of rural folk are successfully implemented and their benefits reach to the people.Deputy Director ICDS informed the minister that 419 cases under Ladli scheme have been sanctioned in district Jammu which is highest among the 213 Districts taken up in this pilot project.
