Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Tuesday held a video conference with Deputy Commissioners and reviewed the arrangements for the 'Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday' campaign scheduled to start from April 14th.Chief Secretary said that it is a very important campaign and deserves utmost attention by all Deputy Commissioners to make it a grand success. He said ACDs and BDOs are already sensitised about the campaign activities and it is expected that all necessary arrangements are in place.  Each Year, 24th April is observed as Panchayati Raj Day, commemorating the 73rd Constitutional Amendment.The Union Government this year has proposed a three phase campaign starting 14th April  to 24th April called the 'Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday' to celebrate the all important event across the country.On 24th April, Prime Minister will address all the Gram Sabhas of the Country and it will be beamed across the country. 

Union Government officers shall also be visiting various Districts and Gram Panchayats during the campaign days in J&K.

Rural Development has also been asked to identify one best performing Panchayat each in Jammu  Kashmir and Ladakh region, that shall be awarded on the National Panchayat Day.Chief Secretary asked Deputy Commissioners to ensure holding of activities at the Gram Panchayat Level as per the campaign proposal.He also instructed that all necessary arrangements be put in place in each panchayat for receiving the Prime Minister's address live.In the first phase from 14th April to 16th April-focus in the Gram Panchayat will be on programmes and activities related to Social Justice & Harmony in connection with the 125th Birth Aniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.In the second phase from 17th to 20th April-focus in the Village Kissan Sabha will be on farmers and agricultural labourers.In the third and final phase from 21 to 24th April-focus will be on organising special gram sabhas with maximum participation of villagers particularly women, SCs, STs and citizens belonging to other marginalized groups.
