Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the Maelbeek metro station in Belgium where an Islamic State (IS) bomb attack last week killed 20 people, including an Indian, and injured more than 100.Modi paid tributes to the victims of the blast at the subway in the Belgian capital and laid a wreath at the site as a mark of respect for the dead.Indian techie Raghavendra Ganesan was one of the victims at the metro station bombing. His death was confirmed by Belgian authorities earlier this week.

The prime minister's office in a tweet said Modi's visit to the metro station was "in rememberance of those men and women who lost their live due to mindless violence in Brussels". More than 30 people were killed in twin bombings at Zaventem Airport and the subway station in Brussels on March 22."At a time of grief, India stands in solidarity," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted shortly after Modi visited the metro station.Terrorism was a major focus of the visiting Indian prime minister during his day-long Brussels trip for the 2016 India-EU summit.
