Governor reviews roads upgradation in and around Katra, Shrine Board projects

Governor N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, today visited Katra and reviewed the to-date status of construction and upgradation of various roads in and around Katra and progress of the various major infrastructure development projects of the Shrine Board.The Governor accompanied by Mr. Rohit Kansal, Commissioer/Secretary, PWD (R&B); Mr. H. L. Maini, Member and Technical Advisor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of Shrine Board; Mrs. Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Reasi and other concerned officers and engineers took stock of the construction and upgradation of the following roads: Domel-Katra, Panthal-Jhajjar, National Highway-1A to the Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, Tikri-Panthal-Katra Road, road from Railway Station, Katra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the internal roads in Katra town.Along with Commisioner PWD and CEO of Shrine Board the Governor travelled onDomel-Katra, Katra-Reasi Road, Panthal-Jhajjar Road and the road from Railway Station, Katra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU)/ Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, and NH-1A to SMVDU to personally view the present status of these roads.

While expressing satisfaction over the upgradation of some of the roads, he directed the Commissioner PWD to complete the remaining work on all these roads within the shortest possible timeframe and instructed MD JKPCC to ensure that the ongoing work on the road from NH-1A to SMVDU was completed on a time bound basis. He directed the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi to ensure speedy completion of land acquisition for facilitating expeditious execution of work on widening and upgradation of road from Katra Railway Station to Kakryal so that this short road connecting Katra with the upcoming Superspeciality Hospital and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is completed expeditiously.It is pertinent to mention that considering the very high importance of ensuring that the aforesaid roads are maintained in a satisfactory condition to enable the patients from within and outside the State to travel with ease to the Superspeciality Hospital, the Governor has been regularly reviewing the status of repair and upgradation of these roads in the past year and more.The Governor also travelled on Katra-Reasi Road upto Balini Bridge and asked the Commissioner PWD to direct urgent upgradation. He directed the Deputy Commissioner Reasi to identify the projects for improvement and upgradation of civic amenities in Katra to facilitate the people of the area and thousands of pilgrims who visit this town daily.Among those present on the occasion were Mr. Surinder Gupta, DIG, Udhampur-Reasi Range; Dr. Piyush Singla, Dr. M. K. Kumar and Mr. B. Mohandaas, Additional CEOs, SMVDSB and other officers of the administration and the Shrine Board.
