Pink Caravan organises a series of exciting events as part of the 2016 Ride

All the events are aimed at spreading breast cancer awareness by engaging the community in fun and exciting activities

The Pink Caravan, a pan-UAE breast cancer initiative by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP),is organizing7unique events to promote breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection.The 2016 edition of the ride will kick-start from the SharjahEquestrian and Racing Club, followed by the “Pink Bite”at the Galleries Lafayette in Dubai Mall. The ride will also feature a series of fitness events such as the “Together we Achieve Better””at Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah, “Pink Regatta” at the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, “CrossFit” at the JBR, Dubai, and “Pink Circuit” at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. The ridewill also feature a range of differentawareness and entertainment events across the UAE.ReemBinKaram, Head of the Events Committee of the Pink Caravan Ride, said, “Every year the Events Committee strives to come up with innovative and aspiring activities to motivate our visitors in visiting our exclusive mobile clinics, benefit from the educational programs organized by the medical team, undergo free screenings for the early detection of breast cancer and also find out more about breast cancer prevention. The annual Pink Caravan ride reflects on our instrumental dedication in using all efforts possible to continue in spreading awareness about breast cancer.” 

BinKaramadded:“After the colossal success of the “Pink Bite” charity auction during last year’s edition, this year “The Pink Bite” is returning attracting larger audiences across the UAE. The 2015 edition of the “Pink Bite” charity auctionbroke the record for the highest price paid for a burger at AED 25,960 ($7,000), which was donated to the Pink Caravan.”This year the "Pink Bite" will be organized in collaboration with Galleries Lafayette in Dubai Mall on Friday, March 11 from 6-8pm, where attending will be Pink Caravan ambassadors and media figures who will prepare healthy dishes under the supervision of an elite group of chefs.They will also be divided into two teams to come up with the tastiest and healthiest dishes, and they will collect funds from audiences by selling all of their cooked meals at the event. 

BinKaram added, “The events accompanying the Pink Caravan Ride are more diversified and engagingfor its 2016 edition. We’ve strategically organized these events in partnerships with a number of aspiring companies ensuring that timings and venues well coincide with the medical mobile clinics. Our objective is to ensure that the largest possible number of people in the UAE get tested for breast cancer.” This year, a series of fitness activities will take place across various locations in the UAE. These activities includea crossfit sessionon March 15 at theJumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai. The session will feature a number of outdoor activities taking place from 6pm-8pm in collaboration with Warehouse Gym. The "Pink Route" event is beingorganized in partnership withthe Fatima Bint MubarakLadiesSports Academyat Yas Marina Circuit on Wednesday, March 16 from 6- 9 pm. This is a women only event, where participants will choose to either take part in a walkathon-style or cyclothon-style and get the opportunity to undergo free clinical tests as well as breast cancer screenings at the same venue.

The 'Pink Regatta" event will see boat owners and the world's top horse riders joining the Pink Caravan Ride on Monday, March 14 from 1-3pm at the Palm Dubai.Visitors taking part in this event will witness live performances and demonstrations from an exclusive boat show. Mobile clinics will also be available at the Golden Mile Galleria to provide free breast cancer screenings to the public.The event “Together we achieveBetter” is being organized with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle among people in the UAE. This event will take place at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah on Sunday, March 13 from 5-9pm. The evening will be divided into two parts – from 5-7pm will treat families to a series physical and fitness activities, and from 6-8pm the Pink Marathon for all family members will debut. The Pink Caravan's medical team will be available at the venue to offer clinical examinations to all participants.

The Pink Caravan Ride is a pan-UAE breast cancer awareness initiative launched in 2011 by Friends of Cancer patients (FoCP) on its 10th anniversary to further the work of the FoCP. It was set up under the "KASHF" program, which aims to promote awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate, melanoma, colon cancer and childhood cancer. The initiative was launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and under the directive of Her Highness SheikhaJawaherBint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients Society, International Ambassador of the World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC. The Pink Caravan seeks to dispel misconceptions surrounding breast cancer and early detection, while offering free breast cancer examinations to all across the country, both Emiratis and expatriates. It also aims to unify efforts to fight breast cancer and promote the culture of voluntarism and charitable work.
