The Deputy Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council,  Jehangir Hussain Mir Tuesday urged upon the social activists, writers, intellectuals, media persons and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to contribute in eradicating the menace of social evils from the society.The Deputy Chairman was interacting with the Padma Shri Awardees of Jammu division here today.The Awardees include Dr Jitender Udhampuri, Prof Nilambar Dev, Mr M L Keemu, Mr S P Verma and Mr. Balwant Thakur.Mr. Jehangir Hussain expressed concern over the menacing social evils and called for immediate steps to take head-on the challenge of eradicating them. He said Padma Shri Awardees can play pivotal role in this regard. He asked them to organize awareness camps and educate people especially the youth about the consequences of the social evils.The Deputy Chairman said he will also interact with Padma Shri Awardees of Kashmir division and Leh shortly.
