“Hundreds of heirs of martyrs including Aijaz Guru brother of Shaheed Afzal Guru, attended today one-day seminar to commemorate the death anniversaries of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat, organized by AIP and took pledge that they will not let the huge sacrifices go waste,” a press release issued by Engineer Rasheed led party Awami Itihaad Party reads.Tears were seen in eyes of the participants when speakers hailing from every nook and corner of the state narrated the stories how they lost their beloved ones at the hands of security forces. 90 year old Sabaz Ali demanded death sentence for those army officers who killed his three sons, Ghulam Hassan Makhdoomi of Tujjar Sharief narrated how his 20 year old groom Tahir was blown to pieces on eve of his marriage, Manzoor Ahmed Shah of Kupwara described how he lost three family members in broad day light.”The statement issued to CNS reads that Nazir Ahmad Sheikh of Langate got tears in every-bodies eyes when he narrated how he lost his both of his legs due to physical torture by Major Multani of Dogra Regiment. 16 year old Mushtaq Ahmed Hajam left everybody shocked when he narrated how his father Muhammad Abdullah Hajam, who was a bread-maker was blown to pieces by Army.

Abdul Rashid Bhat of Pattan too narrated the terrible massacre of his relatives. Dozens of others also expressed their views and demanded stern punishment to those state actors who butchered theri beloved ones.” Speakers and the participants unanimously appealed political groups to shun down their egos and not let sacrifices go waste. Speaking on the occasion legislator Engineer Rasheed said that being an MLA doesn’t snatch from me the right to speak about resolution of Kashmir issue and he condemned the house arrest of Hurriyat leaders and detention of Yasin Malik.Engineer Rasheed appealed for unity among various political thoughts so that sacrifices don’t go waste and added that people have sacrificed as a nation and not for any particular party, amalgam or region.Speaking on the occasion noted journalist Reyaz Masroor said that India and Pakistan can’t get peace in the sub-continent without resolving Kashmir dispute. Prominent social and political activists Abdul Gani Tantray and Mushtaq Suhail from Chenab Valley gave mind blowing details about the killings and atrocities committed in Jammu region since 1990.Besides others who spoke on the occasion included Advocate G. N. Shaheen, Prof Bilal, Advocate Mohammad Amin, Advocate Mohammad Abdullah Khanday, Zahoor Jabran, Imtiyaz Alam, Advocate Mujeeb, Adil Hussain, Molvi Shabir, Qamar Aijaz. (CNS)
