Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pawan Kotwal today flagged off a Cyclothon organized by ‘Jammu Cyclists’ on the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ to aware people about saving the girl child.About 20 cyclists between the age group of 14-50 years  are participating in the Cyclothon which will  culminate at Udhampur on February 07 .Speaking on the occasion the Divisional Commissioner appreciated the initiative  for organising the event to generate awareness about this important social issue .He stressed that providing education to women and making them financially independent is vital for their empowerment and bringing about a change in social perception about the girl child . District Development Commissioner Udhampur Dr. Shahid Iqbal and District Development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar were also present on the occasion. DDC Udhampur will also accompany the cyclists during their city ride.
