Expressing dismay over the sufferings of the people that have got compounded manifold in the state, the CPI(M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has urged the present dispensation to sensitise the administration for mitigating these and providing respite to the common masses. After concluding extensive tour of valley, Tarigami in a statement issued here today said that administration has gone in deep slumber and people are left in a distress situation to get their day to day issues redressed. The basic needs like ration, power and health care are rarely available to the people in the valley and a crisis like situation has emerged. Transformers damaged in most of the habitations are un-replaced and more-so the low voltage is a concern for the student community and the health services. The poor transmission and distribution system is also cause of causalities day in and day out in the valley, he said. The rationees are subjected to severe inconveniences due to lack of ration and on the pretext of updation of records in the garb of NFSA and issuance of new ration tickets.A large section of the society especially those born in 2011 and onwards who been left outside the preview of subsidized ration be included in the same, he urged.
The poor transport system and inadequate traffic management is badly affecting the commuters, referral and essential services and traffic jams have become a routine practice. These not only add to the sufferings of the travellers but also kill their precious time, he said, adding that a sound a pro-active traffic management was required to cope up the situation. On developmental front, he said that the pace of execution and implementation of welfare projects and programmes has got retarded having a direct impact on the livelihood and welfare of the common masses. Favouritism in allocation of works especially under MGNREGA is dominant and delay in release of payments is bothering the poor wage earners. The money meant for poor goes into the pockets of corrupt officials and influential contractors. There are huge bungling in Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors in the execution of centrally sponsored schemes and the genuine beneficiaries are fleeced, he alleged.Referring to the menace of corruption, Tarigami said that corruption has become rampant and has made deep inroads in the administration. The corrupt elements and practices have got encouraged feeling the present situation advantageous. The needy and deserving have been put to a more disadvantageous situation. The administration seems to have got de-sensitised and the element of accountability and responsibility is lacking in it. (KNS)
