Describing the observance of February 5 as the Day of Solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their just struggle, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday said that the Government, people and the entire political leadership of Pakistan have all along backed and extended their support to the political movement on political, moral and diplomatic levels.While expressing his thanks for the support Hurriyat (M) Chairman said it is encouraging that they Pakistan has always been striving for the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu Kashmir.Mirwaiz further said that it was due to the efforts of government and the people of Pakistan that Kashmir issue had attracted the attention of the international community, and expressed his gratitude for raising strongly the issue of gross human rights violations being committed in Kashmir and for seeking the support of international community for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Elucidating the importance of these efforts of Pakistan, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman said it was due to these efforts that there seems a seriousness building among the international community about the importance of the resolution of Kashmir issue and understanding that putting the vexed issue under the carpet any further may prove to be detrimental not only for the peace of the subcontinent but entire South Asia.Describing the statement of the US State Department spokesman that “Delay in the resolution of Kashmir issue was dangerous for the peace of South Asia,” based on the ground reality, the Mirwaiz said this amply proves about the serious nature of Kashmir issue and that the non resolution of this issue as held hostage the stability and the development of the entire Indo-Pak subcontinent.
Calling upon the United States and the international community to play a positive role in the resolution of this issue, the Mirwaiz said with the emerging political situation across the globe, the US and the rest of the international community need to use their influence in finding an acceptable solution to vexed Kashmir issue so as to avoid any nuclear confrontation in the south Asia. Urging the leadership of India and Pakistan to start a meaningful dialogue process for the resolution of Kashmir issue by taking serious steps and involving the real Kashmiri leadership in the process, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman said the conglomerate always stood for cordial relations between India and Pakistan and believed that dialogue was the best way of settling the issues.
