Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Thursday asked DCs to ensure that all 1.25 crore citizens of the state receive their Aadhaar cards at the earliest. Chairing the 2nd meeting of the Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) here, Chief Secretary emphasised on addressing gaps between Aadhaar enrollment and Aadhaar cards delivered to the citizens.To facilitate the process further, Chief Secretary instructed DCs to ensure delivery of Aadhaar cards through postal services and also intimation via sms to the registered mobile numbers of the enrolled citizens so that they can also download their Aadhaar card from UIDAI Web Portal in case not received through post.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary asked all departments to carry out Aadhaar seeding for various schemes including PDS, MGNREGA, NSAP, PMJDY, DBTL and EPFO to bring in transparency, better service delivery to citizens and removal of bogus beneficiaries. Chief Secretary also instructed all departments to use Aadhaar based Bio Attendance System for better attendance monitoring in offices. He said every HoD should ensure that all employees complete Aadhaar enrolment and no employee is left out. During the meeting, Chief Secretary also reviewed NPR updation status with direction to all DCs to complete the NPR updation on the NPR Portal. 

Earlier, Secretary IT briefed the Chief Secretary about the status of Aadhaar penetration in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the total Aadhaar penetration as on 2nd February 2016 stood at 55% of the total population of the State, as per the Census 2011. He said till date record of 88% citizens of the state have been digitized by the census department besides out of the total Aadhaar enrolment of 85 Lakh citizens, over 68 lakh citizens have been provided Aadhaar cards by 2nd February and the process of covering the remaining has been expedited.
