Contractual local employees engaged in Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) Tuesday alleged that Superintending Engineer Virendar Singh Kaira deputed at Ministry’s Project Implementation Unit (PIU) office at Baghat Barzulla has been harassing them and the said officer is habitual of using abusive language against all the local employees.

A group of aggrieved employees told CNS that the said officer is not fond of using invectives but also physically assault the employees. “One of our colleagues, Shah Solieh from Hawal Srinagar was beaten up by the officer and kicked out of the office without any reason. When we resented and objected to his harsh attitude, he threatened to terminate our services in case we file a police complaint,” they said adding that the said Superintending Engineer had recommended an ‘unqualified’ lady to work on deputation basis at PIU office at Barzullah and when they objected he used such abuses that they are ashamed of to repeat.“We submitted written complaints and memorandum before the concerned Ministry, Chief Minister’s office and other relevant officials. However, no action was taken against the officer,” they said.

Finally, the aggrieved employees engaged as stenographers on contract basis said that they lodged an FIR against the said officer and the lady whom he has appointed in the office in police station Saddar. “Yes, we have lodged an FIR vide number 10/2016 under section 467,468,471 against Superintending Engineer Virendar Singh Kaira and the lady and requested University of Kashmir to provide the qualification details of the lady appointed allegedly by Kaira. Assistant Controller Examination (Tabulation) vide number F(Result-Verif)Tab/KU/2015 maintained that the particulars of the candidate bearing Roll number 31011 of BA 3rd year session Annual 2012 does not exist in the result records maintained by the office,” said a police official from police station Saddar adding that investigation is under process and the guilty will be booked.“I will not comment over the issue,” Superintending Engineer Virendar Singh Kaira told CNS.  Chief Engineer Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Anil Shrivastau said that they are waiting for police report. “I had talked to the accused officer who termed the allegations baseless, still we are waiting for the police report and accordingly we will act.” (CNS)
