Accusing BJP of throwing to the wind the splendid legacy of founder president of Jana Sangh Syama Prasad Mookerjee and hurting the nationalist psyche of people of Jammu province for the sake of some loaves and fishes of office, Prof Hari Om on Monday asked BJP leadership to tender an unconditional apology for its statement that “the vision of late Mufti Sahib can be carried forward by working on Agenda of Alliance” and that the “agenda of Alliance is a historic document”.

“Yes, it is a historic document for PDP because it enables it to drive J&K out of India and give a particular type of orientation to the state’s polity, economy and society,” he said

“The Monday’s statement of J&K BJP president that the BJP could even go beyond the Agenda of alliance to re-forge an alliance with the PDP was equally reprehensible,” he further said. He added that the statement only vindicated those in the country who day-in and day-out charge the BJP leadership of being “intellectually and ideologically immoral, corrupt and bankrupt” and assert that “the BJP’s whole concept of state, sovereignty, borders and nationalism is not only highly flawed but also fraught with dangerous consequences”. “By endorsing the late Mufti’s divisive and Pakistan and separatist-friendly and rabidly anti-Jammu vision, the BJP has abused and insulted Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who laid down his precious life in Kashmir on June 23, 1953 for the national cause in J&K and integrating the state fully with India,” said Prof Hari Om, adding that the BJP to fulfill its insatiable lust for power and pelf also outraged the sensitivities of people of Jammu province, who gave such a massive mandate to it both in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2014.“The people of Jammu and Ladakh didn’t vote for the BJP to subvert the nationalist mandate. Nor did they give the mandate to BJP to compromise the national stand on political status of J&K.

They voted for the BJP believing that it would fulfill all the dreams of Syama Prasad Mookerjee and carry forward his unique legacy, defeat the separatist, pro-independence, pro-autonomy and pro-self-rule regressive forces and defend and promote their genuine cause so that they also obtained their legitimate due share in the governance of the state. Indeed, the BJP has betrayed them instead of appreciating the trust they reposed in it in 2014. The BJP will have to pay through its nose sooner than later,” Prof Hari Om further said.Prof Hari Om asserted that the Agenda of Alliance, if implemented in its original form, will endanger the national unity and integrity, undermine the country’s sovereignty, help Pakistan achieve its sinister design and lead to the rise of a situation under which the plight of the non-Muslims, including Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains and Christians, will be no different from that of the minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh.“The implementation of the Agenda of Alliance in its present form will surely create the 1990-like situation in Jammu and Ladakh and the result will be the displacement of non-Muslim population from these two regions,” He asserted. He warned the people of Jammu and Ladakh that they will get completely submerged under the rising tide of Kashmiri Muslim sub-nationalism, if they remained dormant and devoid of political activity anymore. He once again urged the BJP leadership to desist from pursuing the late Mufti’s dangerous line.  (CNS)
