Awareness program on traditional Craft Courses held

The Department of Technical Education organized an awareness program on ‘Traditional Craft Courses-Basholi Painting and Phulkari Arts at Government ITI Kathua, here today.The objective of the event was to educate the  unemployed youth of the district about the Skill Development Scheme being launched by the department of Technical Education which offers traditional courses in Basholi Paintings and Traditional Phulkari Arts. The purpose of this training is to revive the dying art besides generating employment.While speaking on the occasion, Director Technical Education, Shabnum Shah Kamili told that  under the mission these two traditional courses have been started in which the trainees admitted shall be provided financial assistance up to Rs. 2000/-(two thousand only) per month to meet their transport expenses. He added that the trainees shall be taken to different locations for on-the-job training on government expenses and after successful completion of training courses they shall be awarded with certificates by the State Council For Vocational Training (SCVT).

Deputy Director, Technical Education( Jammu), Rajindra Gupta informed that these type of courses are important in reviving the cultural heritage as well as empowering the youth in general and female in particular. He further said that free of cost admission forms for these courses having one year duration are available with ITI Kathua.Secretary, JK State Board of Technical Education (JKSBOTE), Mahmood Ahmad Khan informed that the real empowerment comes from knowledge as well as skill and these courses will help in empowering the youth.Among others Deputy Director , JKSBOTE , Farooq Khan , Registrar , JKSBOTE , Jatinder Kaiser , Inspector Of Trainings , Rajesh Gupta , renowned sculptor Ganesh Sharma and resource person for Phulkari arts were present in the seminar.
