Jammu , 18 Dec 2013

Led by Bej Nath Koul, a deputation of prominent inhabitants of Village Chanjar Marwah, Dachchan and Hanzal Marwah, called on the BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma at party headquarters to seek party’s intervention in the unholy act in the premises of Shiv temple in village Chanjar Marwah falling in the sensitive Kishtwar district.Narrating the last night’s incident, they said that a group of miscreants entered the temple premises and indulged in torning of religious books like the Geeta and the Ramayana besides looting of the other items from inside the temple alleging that there was a police post for protection of temple premises of temple as well as for protection of minority community upto 12/2011 but was shifted leaving the temple and Hindu minority of nearly 200 souls at the mercy of God. They said that Marwah is a sensitive as well as militancy prone-area and it is imperative to protect the ancient temple and ensure foolproof security of the minority community so that it doesn’t migrate. The situation in the area is so critical that anything can happen any time and this eventuality has to be averted at any cost.

Later, BJP State President, along with Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, Political Advisor to State President Prof. Hari Om, senior leader Mohan Singh Chauhan took up the matter with the IGP, Jammu and sought immediate action so that the faith of the minorities in the administration is restored and they do not opt for migration. The IGP assured the delegation of every possible action and informed that he had already deputed a team of senior police officials for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation. While interacting with the IGP, Bej Nath Koul and others demanded that a police post of about 30 personals must be set up on a permanent basis for safety of the temple and the miniscule Hindu minority at Village Lower Chanjer Marwah without delay so that the minority community of village feels secure. They also demanded immediate action against the radical elements who have been making attempts to create wedge between the two communities. They further stressed the need for a proper communication network in their villages so that they remain connected with the district headquarters.Meanwhile, the Members of the affected minority community also called on BJP National Executive Member Dr. Nirmal Singh and narrated their woeful story.Shanti Savoop Koul, Bej Nath Koul, Murti Manohar, Trilik Nath, Vinod Kumar, Roshan Lal, Vivek Kumar, Ranjeet Kumar, Sunny Kumar and Umesh Kumar were the prominent people from affected village who met the BJP leaders as well as IGP, Jammu.
