Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today dedicated the newly constructed Primary Hospital building to the people of Ichgam in Budgam.The construction work of the hospital building has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.44 crore which also includes Doctors quarter while as the work on nursing hostel is apace.The 10 bed hospital besides having out door patient facility also consists of dental section, laboratory X-ray; dispensary, Operation Theatre, labour room and immunization section. Member Legislative Assembly, Budgam, Agha Syed Rohullah Mehdi, Director Health Services, Kashmir and Mission Director, NRHM were present on the occasion. Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, the Minister said that by upgrading rural hospitals and health centers, the huge population living in the villages will not have to travel to towns and cities for treatment. “This aspect has been focused and expansion and consolidation of healthcare centers is carried forward simultaneously besides providing specialists and Para-medics in the government hospitals all across the State”, he said and added that the centrally sponsored flagship programme NRHM in this regard besides various State sponsored schemes are being implemented to achieve the results and enhance treatment facility for the patients in the rural areas.

The Minister underlined the need for providing best treatment to the patients in the government health institutions and asked the doctors to render the public service with highest degree of responsibility and commitment towards the society.The Minister said to further augment the rural health services, the Centre has sanctioned 600 new sub health centers for J&K. He said these health centers would be setup soon in uncovered areas. He said to enhance the incentives to the doctors working in remote and inaccessible areas, the government has mooted a proposal to the Centre for approval of funds under NRHM, which is under active consideration of Union Health Ministry.Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister said that an Ambulance, X-ray Machine, ECG would be provided to the PHC, Ichgam. He also instructed Director Health Services to formulate a project report for construction of boundary wall around the hospital.MLA, Budgam in his address highlighted the developmental achievements registered by the Omar led government during last five years. He announced release of funds for purchase of dental machine for the hospital. He also assured funds for the construction of boundary wall of the hospital.Meanwhile, the Minister paid surprise visit to PHC, Ompora and inspected various units of the hospital and also interacted with the patients. He also received appraisal of the medicare facilities being provided to the patients by the hospital management.Mr. Shabir also took stock of AMT School Khanpora. He directed the concerned authorities to make the building functional and also ensure demarcation of the land of the premises of the School for its proper fencing.
