Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh, today conducted surprise inspection of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Ramnagar in Udhampur district and inspected the healthcare facilities being provided to the people by hospital administration.MLA Ramnagar R S. Pathania, Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Singh Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Mission Director NHM Dr. Mohan Singh, Controller Drugs and Food Control organization Lotika Khajuria besides other senior officers of Health department accompanied the Minister.

The surprise check was conducted by the Minister in view of the complaints by the people regarding non-availability of medicos and paramedical staff in these hospitals during odd hours.

The Minister emphasized the medicos and para-medicos to maintain dress code and cleanliness in the hospital. He said that patient care should be their prime concern as they are being considered as next to God and their devotion and hard work can save innumerable precious lives.Choudhary Lal Singh said that the Government is working under a comprehensive plan to equip health institutions in all the rural as well as far-off areas with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities.Choudhary Lal Singh directed the medicos and paramedics to remain present in the hospital as per duty roaster and provide round the clock healthcare facilities to the people. “Ensuring enhanced medicare to people with emphasis on those living in inaccessible parts forms one of the priorities of present dispensation and any laxity in this regard would be dealt with an iron hand”, he asserted.

The Minister expressed dismay over the shabby and unhygienic condition in the hospital and directed the Director Health Services to impose a fine of Rs. 5000/- on Block Medical Officer. He also fined Rs. 1000/- to storekeeper of the hospital for not maintaining the drug store properly.Responding to the demand of people, Choudhary Lal Singh asked the Director Health Services to post one consultant Surgeon and Anaesthetists in the Sub-District hospital within day’s time.The Minister announced Rs. 5 lakh for renovation of Sub District Hospital Ramnagar and Rs. 5 lakh for conversion of Leprosy Control Unit into AMT school in the area.
