Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today inspected construction work on Rs 50 crore 200 beddded maternity hospital at Gandhi Nagar.The Minister directed the R&B department to gear up their men and machinery for timely completion of this prestigious project so that the people get this vital facility at the earliest.The Minister said that with the completion of this maternity hospital the patient rush in SMGS hospital will be eased to a great extent.Spelling out various measures for further improving health scenario in the State, Lal Singh said that Government has approved five more Government Medical Colleges, three in Jammu division and two in Kashmir division. He said land for establishment of five medical colleges in the State has been identified and directions have been issued to the concerned authorities to prepare detailed project report in this regard.

This 200 bedded hospital will have 7 storeies with the facilities of proper parking, pharmacy store, Lift facilities, Change room with lockers, Mortuary, reception and registration, causality ward with attached toilet blocks, store, security office, doctor room, administration/office records, consultation rooms, laboratories, X-ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, delivery room, labour room, operation theatre, Neonatal ICU, P.IC.U ward, Isolation rooms, nursing station and Wards.Chief Engineer R&B Alok Kumar Mangi, Superintendent Engineer R&B Sudhir Shah, Director Health Services Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr  Baldev Raj Sharma, Mission Director NHM  Dr  Mohan Singh, Controller Drugs and Deputy Director Health Services Dr Ajay Gupta besides other senior officers of R&B and Health department accompanied the Minister.
