Vice Chairperson J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes Bushan Lal Dogra today convened a meeting of senior officials of Social Welfare and Education Department of Jammu Division to review  the status of various schemes being  implemented for the welfare of  students belonging to Scheduled Castes community.Dogra reviewed dispersion of Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships to Students and stressed on disbursement of scholarships through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).He asked the concerned authorities to advice students regarding opening of bank accounts under Jan Dhan Yojana.He directed the District Social Welfare officer to expedite the data compilation process within 10 days so that students can get reimbursement of examination fees at the earliest.

Director Social Welfare Department Jammu Veerji Hangloo informed Vice Chairperson that under Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme, Rs. 116.86 lakh has been released during the year 2015-16 and under Post-Matric Scholarship scheme, Rs. 257.33 lakh has been disbursed to 4210 students.Giving details about the status of construction and development of Scheduled Castes Hostels, Director SWD informed the Vice Chaiperson that Rs. 27.78 lakhs have been released till date for construction against the outlay of Rs. 37.04 lakhs under Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatravas Yojna at Kishtwar and Ramnagar.Secretary J&K State Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes Sham Lal, Deputy Director Planning Kewal Kumar Sharma, Chief Education Officer Jammu Joginder Kumar Sudan and other senior officers were also present for the meeting.
