The detention of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and his associates sparked a shutdown in restive Maisuma and city centre Lal Chowk on Monday.Malik and other JKLF leaders were detained for protesting against “VDC terror”—and subsequently booked for “attempting to murder case besides waging war against the state”. During the clashes that erupted post protest on Friday SDPO Kothibagh Fahad Tak was seriously injured when a stone hit his face. The officer has been undergoing treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi.Reports said that all the shops and business establishments remained shut in Maisuma, Red Cross Road, Mandar Bagh and Budshah Chowk while traders closed their shops and other business establishment in Lal Chowk and Kokar Bazar areas to protest against the detention of Malik and his associates.Meanwhile several separatist leaders including Shabir Ahmed Shah, Aagha Syed Hassan, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash condemned the arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik. Aagha Syed Hassan while terming the detention of Malik and his associates as ‘illegal’ told CNS that Government has been adopting all means to suppress the true voice of the Kashmiri nation.Meanwhile, Police clarified that, “Muhammad Yaseen Malik, along with his associates took out a procession on Friday without any prior permission from District Administration. 

During this un-lawful procession Mohammad Yaseen Malik incited and instigated his associates with an intention to create disturbances and to disturb the normal life. The supporters started heavy pelting on the policemen and the passing by vehicles injuring many policemen including Fahad Tak- DYSP, SDPO Kothibagh, Srinagar who received serious injuries to his eye and a fracture in his nose. The young officer aged 29 years, a direct KPS of 2011 Batch and on his first field posting, had to be air lifted to Delhi and is under treatment at AIIMS New Delhi. The doctors at the hospital are not very optimistic about the regaining of vision of the affected eye despite surgeries having being performed. For the incident, Case FIR No 47/2015 was registered in Police Station Maisuma and Mohammad Yaseen Malik along with some of his associates were taken into custody and lodged in Police Station. Under the legal process, the accused have been remanded to Judicial custody and lodged in Central Jail, Srinagar.”  (CNS)
