Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gutpa, inaugurated the 3rdNational HAPIKIDO Championship-2015 at Indoor Sports Complex, M. A. Stadium here today.Assistant Inspector General of Police, Vigilance, Mr Sameer Rekhi was the guest of hounor.This 3-day long Championship has been organized by Jammu and Kashmir HAPIKIDO Association under the Aegis of HAPIKIDO Federation of India.About 8 teams from Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra, Delhi, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Bihar are participating in the championship . While addressing the participants Mr. Gupta said that sports keep the mind and physique healthy and also inculcates team spirit and discipline among the sports persons.The Speaker stressed the need for organizing more tournaments in the State for providing opportunities to the budding sports persons and said that such events also help in exchange of information about culture and traditions of various states .
He also appreciated the girls for taking part in a big way in the tournament, saying that girls have proved their mettle in every field and hoped that they will bring laurels to the state and country in various sports events. Mr. Gupta said that the State Government is focusing on upgrading existing and creating new sports infrastructure in the state for which the Union Government has sanctioned adequate funds under the sector. The Speaker lauded the efforts of the organizers for organizing such events in the state to popularize sports among young generation.President, HAPIKIDO Federation of India, Mr. B. L. Koul, Vice President, HAPIKIDO Federation of India, Mr. Navneet Gupta, General Secretary, Tarsem Sharma who is also coach of the J&K team, President, J&K, HAPIKIDO, Shuja Zaffar, members including, Mr. Vipin Wazir, Anil Khajuria besides a large number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.
