In flagrant violation of norms, the coaching centres here have enrolled near about 300 students, which is against the the government order. The coaching centres in the Valley especially in the Parray pora area of Srinagar have enrolled more than 300 students.A committee including Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Joint Director Elementary Education and one expert member has recommended that the Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) may be fixed at 150 after taking into account the infrastructure facilities of the coaching institutes and availability of space measuring 3x3 sq ft per student in the classroom.Ssources told KNS that the various coaching institutes in the Parray pora area have admitted 300-400 students in their respective coaching centres.

The coaching centres are openly violating the norms by enrolling more than announced intake capacity of students in their institutes while the authorities are in deep slumber,” sources informed.Chairman of Coaching Centres Association (CCA), GN Var said that due to the little intake capacity, the coaching centres have hiked the fee.“The institutions have hiked the fee as they have to call teachers from outside of the state as the state administration has banned government teachers for private coaching. The government has also announced little intake capacity of students due to which they have hiked the fee,” he said. While asking about enrolling more students than announced intake capacity, Var said that if the institution are having better infrastructure then no one can stop them to enroll more students in their coaching institutions.
