Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said his government was committed to achieving its target of providing safe drinking water to all and to construct toilets in all households in the state."The Grand Alliance government is working to get rid of open defecation in Bihar," he said after reviewed the performance of Public Health and Engineering Department here.Nitish Kumar said the government will construct toilets in all households under the Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan.

He directed department officials to utilise available resources for providing safe drinking water and construction of toilets. The chief minister ordered officials to work to create more awareness among people on safe drinking water and construction of toilets and their use.Safe drinking water and construction of toilets are part of the seven resolves of the Grand Alliance of the Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress, aimed at providing basic amenities to the people.Nitish Kumar made promise on these issues during campaigning for the 2015 Bihar assembly elections.
