Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Gardens & Parks Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today conducted an extensive tour of Dooru and took stock of developmental works at various places in the assembly segment.The Minister was accompanied by MLA Dooru Syed Farooq Ahmad Indrabi, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Muneer-ul-Islam, director Floriculture Kashmir Talat Parvez, Chief Engineer R&B Satish Razdan, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir G D Gorkha, SE R&B and other district level civil and police officers besides PDP district president advocate Shiekh Javed.During his visit the Minister directed R&B officers to expedite the proposal mooted by the R&B department before the World Bank regarding construction of 30 meters span motorable bridge being constructed at a cost of Rs 4.34 Crores at Hakoora connecting two areas over Nuallah Bringee in Dooru Shahabad.

He also asked the R&B officers to expedite the completion of 60 meters span motorable bridge between Badasgam-A and B being constructed under State plan at the cost of Rs 5.31 Crores. The Minister later laid foundation stone of Larkipora-Zaloora-Lessar road under Central Road Fund with total length 11.5 Kilometres involving an estimated cost of Rs 19.60 Crores to boost up development in this constituency.He also instructed the R&B officers to construct a culvert near Jamia Masjid at Badesgam besides improving a link road from Arhama to HarporaWhile inspecting, Larkipora Bridge, the Minister directed R&B officers to complete this bridge with the construction of one more additional span by March 2016.  A portion of this bridge was washed off by the floods in September 2014.Mr. Bukhari directed for upgradation of Hakoor-Gund road connecting two vast habitations in the area.

The Minister also visited the under construction building block of government polytechnic college being executed by R&B at a cost of Rs 15 Crores.While inspecting the under construction building blocks of Sub District Hospital Dooru being constructed by Police Housing Corporation at a cost of Rs 13.86 Crores, the Minister emphasized on timely completion of the project besides stressing on the executing agency to maintain quality standards in its work.He directed the R&B authorities to take up reconstruction of Shankerpora-Wampora-Panzath Bridge over Naullah Sandran under SPA and an additional cost will be met by the government. A portion of this bridge was also washed off by the recent floods. The minister said that an additional funding will be provided by his department so that the bridge is reconstructed as per new alignment within two and a half years at an estimated cost of Rs 10.40 Crores.

The Minister asked the director Floriculture Kashmir to improve the Verinag public park by way of integrating water fall section with the main park. The minister also passed on directions to the officers of floriculture department to upgrade and develop Rasool Mir Park in the premises of R&B Dak Bungalow. Mr. Bukhari also passed the direction to R&B officers to dismantle the unsafe building of Dak Bungalow and utilize the serviceable material which could be salvaged from the dismantling of the structure in the reconstruction of the new Dak Bungalow.

Later while addressing a public meeting at Dooru Shahabad, the Minister said the R&B department has macadamized 50 kilometres in Dooru constituency under macadamization of cities and towns programme.Mr Bukhari said the R&B department has adopted fresh specifications for maintenance of roads where tar macadam depth has been fixed depending on condition of a road. He said to ensure accountability and productive use of the state resources, the Government has also adopted new norms in R&B department according to which contractors would be responsible for maintenance of roads for three years.The Minister asked the locals to be more vigilant in checking the quality of work going on in their respective areas and contact R&B officers if any discrepancy in quality of work is found anywhere in the region. Mr. Bukhari said the people would feel perceptible difference in new roads as the specification adopted would ensure better quality of roads.The Minister said that since the new government assumed office in the State, significant initiatives have been taken in every sector aimed at providing corruption free and transparent governance. He said the Government is committed to bring economic stability by way of creating and augmenting the already existing infrastructure in the state.
