The Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal today urged the Union Railways Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu to direct his Ministry for constructing a Limited Height Subway in lieu of closed level crossing No. 55-C at km. 64/ 15-16 between Station Ghanauli - Bari on Sirhind Nangal Dam Section to mitigate the hardships being faced by the people living in this area.In a letter to Mr. Prabhu, the Chief Minister apprised him that level crossing at village Kharota on NH- 205 to Bharatgarh - Kharota Link Road had been closed by the Railways. He said that due to the closure of this level crossing, people of this area belonging to villages Majri, Awankot, Alowal, Himmatpur, Kimatpur and Kharota were facing hardships as they have to travel a long distance to reach the nearest market centre at Bharatgarh Town. Further, Mr. Badal said that people were facing problem regarding transportation of their crops and seeking health & education facilities too. 

Likewise, the Chief Minister said that people have to travel a long distance for availing Bus Service for reaching Tehsil and District Headquarters. He informed Mr. Prabhu that there was a proposal to upgrade the existing link road from NH-205 to Ghanauli to Bara village under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-Il, due to which the traffic intensity on this road was likely to increase further. Mr. Badal urged the Union Minister that a Limited Height Subway be constructed by the Ministry of Railways in lieu of above mentioned closed level crossing No. 55-C at km. 64/ 15-16 between Station Ghanauli - Bari on SirhindNangal Dam Section to mitigate the hardships being faced by the people living in this area. “The construction of this Limited Height Subway will result in saving a lot of time, energy and money due to reduction in distance to be travelled by the people” he added.
