Seminar cum workshop on "Best Practices in Phlebotomy and Pre Analytical Variables" was held in Government Medical College Srinagar. It was organised by the Department of Biochemistry, Government Medical College Srinagar in collaboration with ACBI (Association of Clinical Biochemists of India) and BD vacutainers.Administrator GMC and Associated Hospitals, Mrs. Rifat Arif and Medical Superintendent, SMHS Hospital, Govt. Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Chowdhary were distinguished guests on the occasion.Head, Department of Biochemistry/Member ACBI, Prof Sabhiya Majid, spoke on "Gaps that are needed to be filled to eliminate pre analytical lab errors.Clinical Resource Consultant, BD India, Ms Rachna Koul spoke on "Best practices in phlebotomy & pre analytical variables”.The seminar was attended by HODs, Medical Superintendents and HoUs of various Departments of Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals, Srinagar. Paramedics including Lab Technicians and Nurses were also present in the Seminar.After the Seminar, a work shop was held in F-Block Diagnostic Lab. of Department of Biochemistry for selected batch of paramedics (Technicians and Nurses) who were trained in ID Phlebotomy and BD Vacutainer use.
