A meeting of the Committee on Petitions of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA, Sham Lal Chowdhary today.Legislators, Shamima Firdous, Ranbir Singh Pathania and Javid Hassan Beigh attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to improve the functioning of the committee.The Committee held threadbare discussions on the petition filled by inhabitants of Khimber Hazratbal, Srinagar against Additional DC, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari of concerned halqa of Khimber Hazratbal, Taki Sangreshi for alleged encroachments on the Kahcharai land.The Committee directed the revenue department to submit a detailed report regarding the issue within a month’s time for its scrutiny besides maintaining status quo as per the directions given by the Committee in this regard.Secretary, Revenue, Mohammad Afzal briefed the Committee about the status regarding alleged encroachment of State/Kahcharai land in village Manzpora Khimber, Srinagar.The Committee also heard the petitioners who were also present on the occasion and assured them that the case would be settled as per the standing rules and guilty shall be dealt sternly . Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shaukat A Bhat, Special Secretary, legislative Assembly, M R Singh, Additional Secretary, Legislative Assembly Naseema Jan besides other senior officers of revenue department and Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
