The health department has “illegally” transferred atleast seven women doctors in the Sub-district hospital Pattan in a year, which is against the norms formulated by the department. As per the service rule, no one is supposed to get transferred before two years of his/her service in any department. The doctors include Dr Farzana, Dr Nahida, Dr Nadiya, Dr Kamar-ul-Nisa, Dr Zeenat, Dr Rukaya, Dr Naqsheeba, and Dr Mehbooba Kousar who have been illegally transferred to the different hospitals of Srinagar before spending two years of their service in the Sub-district hospital Pattan.Sources informed KNS that B Grade Gynecologist post is lying vacant in the hospital from the last two years. “The post was filled by the higher officials but after passing two months, Dr Mehbooba Kousar who was appointed on the post was illegally transferred to SDH Charar-i-Shareef,” sources said.

They further said that all the lady doctors “have political backing” due to which illegal transfers took place. The Patients while talking to KNS said that the hospital is not having a satisfactory strength of the doctors. “Whenever we visit the hospital for the treatment, w e don’t get it due to the lack of doctors here. The authorities are forcing us to spend hefty money in private clinics,” patients said. They appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances at the earliest. While talking to KNS, BMO Pattan Dr Aadil Kangoo said that “he is doing what he is being asked to do.”

He, however, said that he is not having any information regarding the woman doctors who have been earlier transferred from the hospital.Minister for State for Health and Family Welfare, Asiea Naqash said that she will investigate into the matter and will call Director Health in this regard. “I have no information about it but I will look into the matter and will come up with the facts at earliest,” Naqash told KNS.
