A meeting of the Hurriyat (M) presided over by the conglomerate’s chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was today held at its headquarters to discuss the preparations for the November 18 meeting that has been called for inviting suggestions and ways to counter the state aggression and devising a joint strategy against it.In a statement issued to KNS, spokesman of Hurriyat (M) said the meeting was attended by all leaders and representatives of all the constituents of the amalgam. “It may be recalled that Mirwaiz has invited all pro freedom leadership, religious organizations, Ulemas, intellectuals, trade bodies, students unions and members of the civil society to this meeting,” the statement added.During the meeting, the Hurriyat (M) constituents reaffirmed their support to the initiative of the Mirwaiz and said that they would all contribute to make the November 18 programme fruitful.

The meeting expressed grave concern over the arrest spree of the youth and pro-freedom leaders and activists and placing curbs on the political and religious activities of the resistance leaders. Condemning the government for placing repeated curbs on the movement of resistance leadership, by placing them under house arrests to stop them from carrying their political activities and   religious obligations. The Hurriyat leaders and activists agreed to the fact that in these circumstances, devising a joint strategy against the government's aggression was the urgent need of the day.Ridiculing the government for bragging about believing in so called "democratic ideals and values", the meeting said that it has on the contrary unleashed a reign of terror on the common masses; in fact it has taken it to a new level. The conglomerate said that these measures cannot break the will of the people, who would continue to carry the resistance movement forward.

The meeting laid emphasis on the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir and said an unresolved Kashmir was a constant danger for the peace of entire South Asia.Stating that the issue cannot be pushed under the carpet by using military might against the local population, they said the successive governments had not been successful in doing so in the past and would never be successful in future too.The meeting also paid glowing tributes to the 22-year-old Mustafabad Zainakote youth, Gowhar Nazir Dar and other martyrs and prayed for the recovery of dozens of youth injured by Indian forces during the past few weeks.
