With an aim to clean Kishtwar town and to develop a healthy ambience, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Ghulam Nabi Balwan today flagged off a week long cleanliness drive.The week long drive has been by Municipal Committee, Kishtwar under the ambit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.ADDC Kishtwar, Mr. Kishori Lal Sharma, ACR Kishtwar, Dr. Khalid Malik, Executive Officer Municipality, Kishtwar besides other district officers and officials of Municipal Committee, Kishtwar participated in the drive.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Balwan said that the said drive has been organized to spread awareness about cleanliness and hygiene and he hoped that such it shall play major role in making Kishtwar litter and open defecation free.Calling children, ambassadors of the campaign, he said that if children are made aware about cleanliness they can even help their parents contribute in maintaining cleanliness at their homes and surroundings.To translate the aim of the drive on ground there is also need to educate the common masses especially hitherto uncovered economically weaker sections of the society about importance of maintaining hygiene, he added. He also asked EO municipality Kishtwar to motivate all stake holders to be a part of the campaign. The week long drive should cover all areas of the Town, he further added.
