A two-day placement drive was organized under Udaan scheme at Udhampur in which 98 graduates were interviewed and 71 selected for training and placement in various companies.The placement camp was organized by District Administration, Government Degree College management and National Skill Development Corporation here today. District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary inaugurated the placement-cum-awareness camp for unemployed graduates of the district. He interacted with the representatives of visiting corporate and aspirants appearing for interviews and counselling.
The DDC briefed the participants about the seriousness of Government for skill development courses and placement of youth in various sectors requiring different skills.While interacting with aspirants and students of the college, the Deputy Commissioner called for greater participation in such placement drives for which district administration and college management has launched awareness programmes at tehsil level and also personality tests, communication skill development sessions and mock interviews are being organised.Project Officer DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra and Principal Government Degree College Udhampur Prof Rakesh Bhalwal coordinated the arrangements while faculty of college and career counselling centre organised logistics.
The management of Career Counselling Centre organised the placement drive and assisted the visiting teams of the corporate.More than 20 corporate companies participated in the placement drive which included Roman Technology, Accenture, Safe express, Sebiz Infotec, KPMG, Mount Talent Consultancy, IMS-health, Future Learning, Royal orchid, Multicare, TNS , IL & FS, Apollo Mediskills, Surya wires, CIPET, VISPL and Mitcon. The packages offered ranged from Rs 1.30 Lakh to 3.50 Lakh per anum. Another placement drive has been planned to be held in February 2016 for final year students of degree colleges in Udhampur.
