The union surface transport and highways ministry was on Monday conferred with ISO 9001 : 2008 certification for monitoring, planning, development and maintenance of highway infrastructure and road transport in India, an official statement said."Administrative efficiency is the most vital ingredient for the successful working of an organization," said Surface Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari while receiving the certification from Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS) CMD Arun Sharma, the statement said.
"Quick and transparent decision making process, backed by decentralized power structure and a system of performance audit would go a long way in ensuring that departments are able to achieve the development work that they set out to do," he added.The ISO certification will be applicable to all wings of the ministry here, including the office of the minister and minister of state, covering more than 700 employees, the statement added.
