Gidderbaha (Sri Muktsar Sahib) , 01 Aug 2012

Member Parliament from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal today accused the Congress led UPA Government for again discriminating Punjab during announcing Rs. 1900 crore package for rain-deficit states. Badal described this act of UPA Government as ignoring the contribution of Punjab in the national food kitty. After visiting the sewing centers setup under ‘Nanhi Chaan’-campaign against female foeticide, in villages of Gidderbaha, Badal lashing out at UPA Government said that UPA has followed its old tradition to ignore the interests of Punjab’s peasantry, who contributed more than 65% food grains in the central pool. She said that the Punjab Government has purchased power worth Rs. 1600 crore from its limited resources to save the kharif crops but on the other hand the UPA Government has not extended any cooperation despite repeated requests by the state government. Answering a query regarding the allegation of Union Government for overdrawing the power leading to the blackout in the northern region for two days, Badal said that Punjab had not overdrawn power while the reality is that it was totally failure of Union Government and its ill-managed power strategies. She said that UPA Government has failed to upgrade the northern power grid according to need of the people. She asserted that Punjab was most disciplined state to draw the power from the northern grid according to the figures procured by BBMB.  On answering a question regarding position of PPP Chief  Manpreet Singh Badal, Badal said that everybody knows that  Manpreet was an agent of Congress Party and he formed PPP to provide political benefits to the Congress in recently held Vidhan Sabha polls but the people of Punjab had completely rejected congress and its conspiracy. She said that now  Manpreet has realized that it was not possible for him to run PPP, so he was trying his level best to merge PPP in Congress Party with the help of Priyanka Gandhi. Meanwhile, Badal visited Kothe Dashmesh Singh, Rukhala, Sheikh, Khunnan Khurad and Duhewala villages to review the status of sewing centers. She said that under this campaign against female foeticide and dowry, more than 100 sewing centers have been established where more than 1100 girls were getting training of sewing and embroidery.Prominent amongst those were present on the occasion included  Sant Singh Brar, Incharge Gidderbaha constituency, Jathedar Navtej Singh Kauni and Jathedar Gurpal Singh Gora (both SGPC members).
