Punjab Congress will continue its fight on the streets of Punjab till the deaf dumb Punjab government addresses the agririan crises on priority. Remembering the yesterday's incident at Bathinda as similar to that of pre-independence era(British Raj), in which scores of congressmen were brutally lathi charged, detained and then FIR registered against them, S Ravneet Singh Bittu, Member of Parliament from Ludhiana said that he will not sit till the issue of farmers is resolved. The way Punjab police manhandled the congressmen yesterday just to please their political bosses is not done at all, he said.

S. Ravneet Singh Bittu said, the congress party struggled for the independence of the nation. Similarly, the Congressmen sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the Nation. This agitation for the survival and honour of the farmers, he emphasised will not die down and protests will continue across the state no matter police registers as many cases on the congressmen.

S. Ravneet Singh Bittu said, there is loss amounting to Rs. 1200 crore of cotton crop due to whitefly in the malwa region, farmers are protesting against it. The State Government will have to adequately compensate them. Commenting on the paddy procurement scenario in the state, S Bittu said that from today onwards the paddy has started to arrive in mandis but still the Punjab government is waiting for the approval of cash credit limit worth Rs. 22,000 crore from the centre to disburse the payments to the farmers. S. Ravneet Singh Bittu said, there is a lot of unrest among the farmers, the delay in making payments will again add the fuel to their burning hearts. The gravity of the situation can be gauged from the fact that the farmers are taking over the state government sponsored stages at different functions across the state, he remarked.Expressing concern over cases of farmer's suicides, S Ravneet Singh Bittu demanded that Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal should immediately take up the issue of loan waiver for the farmers of Punjab with the Union Government. The farmers indeed are reeling under debt and they need relief to survive then only the agriculture can sustain in the state, he said.S. Bittu said that like once S Beant Singh who took up the cause of eradicating the terrorism from the state of Punjab, like wise today I along with my party leaders will fight for the cause of farmers.
