Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the Punjab government was committed to creating one lakh jobs, both in the government and private sector, to ensure adequate employment opportunities to the youth of the State.Deputy CM made this statement while interacting with enthusiastic youth after installing Punjab Youth Development Board Chairman Parambans Singh Romana in his chair at a function at the Udyog Bhawan here.Addressing the youth informally along with Romana, Mr. Badal said they were the back bone of the party and their enthusiasm and commitment would be the game changer in the 2017 assembly elections. He said as far as the Punjab government was concerned, there would be massive employment in the State in the next one and a half years. 

“Besides recruitment in the government, we are also creating job opportunities for youth in the new Sewa Kendras (12,000 jobs) besides private sector opportunities in IT, agro processing and manufacturing units coming up in the State”, he said.The youth, hundreds of whom clicked selfies with the Deputy CM on the occasion, also appreciated the seriousness with which the Punjab government in establishing skill centers in the State. They appreciated the fact that the government has come out with innovative steps to encourage excellence in education by creating meritorious schools besides creation of special colleges for girls in rural areas.Badal also appreciated Students Organisation of India (SOI) on the occasion. He said the landslide victory of the SOI led alliance in the Panjab University elections would serve as a spring board for the party in Punjab. He said due representation would be given to youth candidates by the SAD even as he appreciated Parambans Romana and his team for the recent SOI successes.

Speaking on the occasion, Romana said he would act as a bridge between the youth of the state and the government and would convey the aspirations and problems of the youth to the government. He also urged every youth above 18 years to enrol as a voter so that she could have a say in the formation of the new government in 2017.YAD president Mawla Zone Kanwarjit Singh Rozy Barkandi, YAD President Malwa Zone-2 Harpal Juneja, Zonal President of SOI Malwa Zone- 1 Robin Brar, Zonal President of SOI Malwa Zone-2 Meet Pal Dugri, Zonal President of SOI Malwa Zone-3 Sarbjeet Jhinjer, President of SOI Doaba Zone- Harkanwal Virk,  President of SOI Majha Zone Gursharan Chinna, SOI Observer Bhim Waraich, SOI President Chandigarh Vikki Muddukhera and President Panjab University Student Council Jasmeen Kang were also present on the occasion.
