The Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Nazir Ahmad Gurezi has directed the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) to formulate a Detailed Project Report for establishment of 7 Mega Watt (MW) Power House at village Achoora in Tehsil Gurez.This direction was given by the Minister during his 5-Day long extensive tour to Tehsil Gurez which concluded yesterday.The Minister directed the JKSPDC to gear up their field functionaries and submit the DPR immediately to the concerned quarter, so that the funds could be arranged for the purpose. He said that funds are no problem but need is to frame the plans for creating and establishment of developmental projects and identify the sites for the purpose. He said there is a huge potential of water resources and to create power units in the Tehsil.

Interacting with the people at different places, the Minister said that the Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s gigantic development witnessed in the State in every sector is a land mark achievement, adding that focused attention is given to hilly and remote areas to upgrade their living standard. He said several welfare schemes have been launched in the State especially for the weaker sections of the society with an aim to elevate the socio-economic condition.During his tour, several deputations met the Minister and apprised him about their inpidual and collective problems. Mr. Gurezi gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into.
