Minister for Social Welfare, Forest, Ecology and Environment, Bali Bhagat today said that coalition government has taken appropriate measures for upgrading civic facilities in the State, adding that focus is being given to improvement of road network, bridges, cleanliness, drainage system, traffic regulation and beautification of cities through development of parks.The Minister said this while interacting with locals during his visit to Raipur Domana to take stock of condition of ponds in the area.The Minister was accompanied by Joint Commissioner Works, JMC Kushal Chand, XEN JMC Parmod Sharma, AEE JMC besides other senior officers.Bali directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to prepare DPR for beautification of pond at Muthi with facilities like high mast lights, pathway, landscaping as well as beautification work of the said pond.

 At Barnai, Bantalab and Chinore, the Minister noticed that ponds were in poor condition due to discharge from local nallahs . The Minister directed JMC to prepare a proposal for conversion of these ponds to beautiful parks with all modern facilities.The Minister said that development of parks in different parts of the State is imperative to provide recreational facilities to people. He added that beautification and conservation of heritage sites has also been focused and various measures are already in place.The Minister directed JMC to develop parks with multi-recreational facilities particularly for children having fountains, joggers-path, garden lights, etc.He further said that parks shall provide an alternative to morning walkers, who otherwise rely on roads. He asked municipal authorities to take measures for future upkeep of the newly constructed parks in the area.
