Senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Vikramaditya Singh today demanded that Dogra certificates must be issued to Jammu youth as it is their birth right. He said that issuance of Dogra certificate would facilitate recruitment of unemployed Jammu youth in the Armed forces.Dogras are well known for their courtly manners, great courage and strong powers of physical endurance and these qualities of Jammu youth make them highly desirable recruits for the Armed Forces.In a statement issued to the press today, Vikramaditya Singh said that he fully agrees and supports the views expressed by Minister of State (MoS) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Dr. Jitender Singh moving to restore Dogra certificates for Jammu youth. He said that this certificate was issued primarily to Dogra youth living along the border belt in order to facilitate their recruitment in the armed forces. It is well known that Dogras all along the Jammu, Himachal & Punjab belt have historically proved to excel in battle. The Dogra certificate allows the youth certain relaxation in recruitment norms so as to enable their joining. This has been a long outstanding demand by the Dogras of Jammu. Vikramaditya said that he would use his good offices to impress upon the Government to give this matter serious attention. (CNS)
